I know it gets lame when people just brag about their husbands.
And I usually try to keep it to a minimum.
But I've got myself a gem.
He doesnt mind coming home to me in a gray suit.
and by that I mean a gray XXL pair of sweats and coordinating sweatshirt.
with my hair a hot mess.
With all of the contents of our dishwasher on the floor (thank you jackson),
and carpet full of cracker dust from jackson's dinner.
With 4 different piles of clothes on the floor that needed to be washed
but didn't.
and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
there's so much that's wrong with me.
yet he finds ways to love me anyway.
I don't see me ever making it without him.

Valentine's Day
James proposed to me 5 Valentine's Days ago.

It was perfect. Magical. Romantic.
I was the happiest girl then, and I am the happiest girl today.

My Valentine sent me texts all day from work and made me find little gifts he had hidden around the house. Nothing big or fancy, just little things that made my heart melt. In return, I made us a fort and a delicious homemade dinner and we ate by candlelight. Did I mention he got us a chick flick to watch?
I've seriously got it so good.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Cupcakes
On the other hand, he had a hand-written note by "Jackson,"
Thanking me for everything I do everyday.
I love hand-written notes by my husband pretending to be my 9 month old baby.
And I love these mini cupcakes.
They make me feel less gross for eating all four in a day and a half.

Parenthood
James and I went on a date. We ate,
we talked.
we watched a movie.
I know, we're out of control.
It was nice.
And then we picked up Jackson
and laughed really softly all the way home
at the fact that we are p a r e n t s.
We got home and put him to bed
and resumed our lives as a family of three.
parenthood is great.

Maria
In the last couple of years, she's left me multiple times.
For China.
For New York.
And now, she's leaving me for Australia.
I'm going to miss her while she's out there fulfilling another one of her dreams.
I love you.
p.s. please ignore the huge belly taking up half the picture.

Our 4th one together
February 14th, 2007, this boy asked me to marry him.
February 14, 2010, I'm so thankful I said yes.
He makes me crafts on valentine's day,
and that alone wins my heart.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Love
The weather outside can make any frown turn upside down.
I love the sun and the power it has over me.
I could kiss you, I'm so happy.
I have also finally accepted that I probably won't be sleeping
in my own bed until after this baby is born.
He just wont have it, and the couch has become my resting place,
while he has a party all night long.
Consequently, James and I had a sleepover downstairs last night
because he felt so bad that I now have to sleep there all the time.
We watched shows, ate jelly belly's, kissed each other good night,
I set up my bed on the couch,
and he slept in a sleeping bag on the floor while holding my hand.
...
And that's about as good as it gets these days.

Lessons Learned in 2009
New Year resolutions are achievable most of the time.
Diet is never the answer: exercise is.
Allow yourself to eat what you want. Worry about it later.
A clean house makes for a happy marriage.
Gardening is not for everyone.
When you find yourself too comfortable, you should take on something new.
You never grow out of procrastination.
The longer you spend with someone the more you learn to love their imperfections.
Motherhood is the scariest thing I have ever encountered.
The body is the greatest work of art.
Things change and people do too. And that is okay.
At the end of the day, money is just money.
Diet is never the answer: exercise is.
The kitchen is the place to make traditions.
The best dates are achived on the couch while cuddling.
Having role models will get you where you want to go.
SUV's are the greatests.Allow yourself to eat what you want. Worry about it later.
Vacations are necessary for your well being.
Drinking water really does make a difference.A clean house makes for a happy marriage.
Making friends only gets harder with age.
It takes not something awful, but something great to happen to you to realize who your real friends are.Gardening is not for everyone.
Your husband is your real best friend.
You only learn by making your own mistakes. When you find yourself too comfortable, you should take on something new.
You never grow out of procrastination.
The longer you spend with someone the more you learn to love their imperfections.
People do change, but only if they want to.
Give into cravings every time you get; everything tastes so much better that way.Motherhood is the scariest thing I have ever encountered.
The body is the greatest work of art.
Things change and people do too. And that is okay.
At the end of the day, money is just money.
Happiness is found inside the walls of your home.
Love is something you have to work at every day.

You know your husband loves you...
after he recently declared to you that if you ever bought one
your marriage would end.
You also know you love him,
when you let him borrow it once in a while,
and you are willing to cuddle while you each wear a sleeve.
Love is a nasty and beautiful thing.

Thanksgiving
Since it's Thanksgiving week, I saw it appropriate to share with you a couple of things I am really thankful for.
James and everything that he brings into our family
A beautiful healthy baby growing inside of me
My mom and her friendship
my dad and his sense of humor
My brother Jorge and his beautiful family
My brother Daniel and his sense of adventure
My in-laws and the love they have shown me
Material things that make life a little easier
Food on our table every night
A beautiful house to call home
a job during this tough economy
But most of all,
I am thankful because we are becoming a family of three.
And three is always funner than two.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Have a wonderful time with your families!

True Love
True love means you meet your husband at Chuck-A-Rama at 8:30pm,
right after working out,
because he's craving it really badly but you're the one who's pregnant.
(Halloween 2007)
True love also means not getting mad at me
when I post pictures like this one on my blog
and talk about his cravings.
We're pretty lucky we have it.

Hitting the Jackpot
And we harmonized to Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus.
At the top of our lungs.
With the car's windows open.
I love him.

I'm a Lucky One.
Yesterday, I was feeling horrible,
when James walked in with this.
And though I still had a migrane,
and my stomach still hurt,
and still wanted to sleep all day long...
He was there.
And it immediately made me feel better.
Even if it was only for a minute.

and you are reasured endlessly of the connection that is and will always be there.
When I look into the eyes of this little girl,
I see myself not only physically but also in her personality.
She is my past and I am her future.
We are really the greatest of friends.
We both love anything tall and flashy

Dear Husband,
I bought you tickets to this for your birthday
and as you already know,
I suck at surprises almost as much as you do.
You guessed it a day early.
I'm excited for next week.
Can we have Cafe Rio that night too?
Think about it.
Love,
Jess

I think I just let my guard down and admitted to being wrong once in a while.

Sometimes, when James and I get mad
I think of things that could happen to him.
So I get really sad and usually end up saying I'm sorry.
Then we kiss and pinky promise to never disagree again.
Which sometimes lasts only a couple of hours.
At which time, we repeat the process
and mostly end up kissing again and/or eating cookies.
It's really healthy. Mentally and physically.

Pathetic cannot begin to describe it.

Last night, I had to spend the night without James.
It was scary and I almost didn't make it.Then I got a genious idea:
make a James out of pillows and a shirt he left on our bed.
I fell asleep seconds later.
Life Lesson: Never sleep without him again,
or make sure to have materials to make a fake James.
Then, don't tell people because they may think you're pathetic.
